The summer what we had of it (two fine days and a thunderstorm as I recall) is rapidly drawing to a close and we will be back to our regular meetings in September. In the next notes I will publish details of the schedule. In the meantime I need to keep you up to date on some events to be covered in the next few weeks.
This Saturday the Tralee Triathlon Club holds their event in Fenit, this begins as 12.30pm but anyone covering the event would need to be on-site by 11.45am at the latest. The best place to get good shots is on the beach itself and in the transition area. The transition area is normally located on the road just outside the playground carpark. I covered the event last year and came away with what I think is this fantastic shot of an athlete in deep concentration before the start of the event with the other competitors approaching behind him. I have included a copy so you can judge for yourself.
The next news is the forthcoming competition being run by Sam McCauley Chemists with the theme of “Irish Weather”. The closing date for entries is August 24th and the pictures must be either 10x8 or 6x8 if mounted. The prize is a Nikon D3100 worth €650 a fantastic addition to your camera collection. The event itself will be held on Sunday 9th of September in the Manor West Hotel and we will be having a stand promoting our club at the event.
For further information contact Francis Foley on 087 905 4161 or [email protected] or visit our website at http://ardfertcameraclub.weebly.com. Remember that we always welcome new members and guests to the club which has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, no need to have a fancy camera, come along and learn how to take better pictures.
