It’s remarkable the great turnout at the club meetings on these miserable, damp and cold November evenings but we do make the effort. Last night we had a workshop on still life photography and a presentation of the survey results taken recently.
The cup of tea is a fantastic start to the meeting and last night Miriam Heylin our Competitions Secretary made it all the better because she brought along two delicious samples of her home baking. We were treate4 to 2 very tasty sponges with a stewed apple centre, cinnamon and topped with a Maple Syrup Drizzle. Then Miriam went on to present the results of the survey, these were really interesting and shown in the form of easily understandable charts and a summary of the main findings. These will give food for thought for the committee to bring further improvements in the member’s experiences over the coming months.
Then we had a workshop on still life, the clubs new Studio Lighting Rig arrived yesterday and eventually after some head scratching, trial and error and eventually opening the manual we managed to assemble it. There was a further half hour or so spent playing with the settings to permit the members to take some pictures of the fruit that was set up. Unfortunately the transmitter failed shortly after, hopefully it’s just the battery and it will be working for future club workshops. Here is a sample of what was achieved before the failure.
Our next and final meeting before the Christmas Break is on December 6th; for a change we are having a themed competition “What Makes Me Smile?”. This should provide some rather interesting photos and get us in the Christmas Spirit. As per the results of our survey, there will from now on be 3 categories, Advanced, Intermediate and Novice and there will be a €5 entry fee. Hope to see you all there.
